Oops (oh my!): Writing Embarrassment Workshop - Hosted by Dani Johnson
In this workshop, we'll be unraveling the importance of writing about embarrassments and vulnerabilities in poems. The best poems, whether they make us laugh out loud or break our heart, require vulnerability that often feels like embarrassment. However, if we're brave, we'll notice that often it's our little humiliations that draw people to our work. Great poetry makes us feel seen and heard, touching on universal emotion that can bring us closer together especially when we feel isolated and alone. An introvert friendly workshop, I will never call on you, make you talk or answer questions, and there is no requirement to share anything you write while we're together.
What should I bring? Please bring writing materials, a sweatshirt (if you tend to get chilly) and an emotional support water bottle. We will also have drinks and snacks for you if you get hungry.
