Beyond Binaries: Writing Gender Futurity with Lore LeMaster
Class Description: This workshop invites participants to explore the fluidity and complexity of gender through creative writing. Acknowledging that gender is not a static or uniform experience, we will delve into its “ineffable,” “uncertain,” and “particular” nature. Participants will examine how gender intersects with race, ability, and other identity markers, influenced by historical and cultural forces. By engaging with liberatory approaches to gender, we will deconstruct traditional notions of gender and envision new possibilities for gender expression.
What We’ll Do: Through writing exercises, discussions, and peer feedback, this workshop aims to create a supportive space for imagining and articulating gender futures that transcend conventional binaries. Whether you are a seasoned writer or new to exploring gender in your work, join us to challenge norms and expand your creative horizons.
